Proposed bill would reward boat buyers
Article Abstract:
Rep Patrick J Kennedy has introduced a bill that would give 20% tax credits to buyers of luxury yachts and who keep these boats in the US. The Rhode Island legislator said his Boat Building Investment Act (HR 3536) is geared towards invigorating the US' domestic recreational marine industry. HR 3536 also calls for an annual appropriation of $25 million from the Dept of Commerce for the establishment of a national export assistance program to sell US-made boats abroad and provide manpower training for the industry.
