USPS profit, revenue fall short
Article Abstract:
The profits and revenues of the US Postal Service (USPS) fell short of the organization's first quarter fiscal 2000 plan because of negative publicity about its sweepstakes promotions and the increased use of the Internet as a marketing medium. The USPS' revenues were $306 million short of the plan's target while its profits had a $140 million shortfall. A cost-cutting plan is being seriously considered by the agency to meet its target.
