Study: international USPS customers pay less duties
Article Abstract:
A report released by the Air Courier Conference of America revealed that the US Customs Service (USCS) is putting private carriers such as United Parcel Service and FedEx at a disadvantage against their foreign counterparts. The report noted that the USCS does not inspect the majority of shipments entering the US through the US Postal Service (USPS) but does so for 90% of express shipments handled by private carriers. Not only that, the USCS also inspects and assesses duties on only 6% of USPS shipments.
