System lightens agents' call volume
Article Abstract:
Mark Group's automated order-status system, called Annie, has fielded 200- 250 calls a day in two months of operation. The cataloger promoted the service in 5 million copies of its three catalog titles that it mailed in May 2001. Twenty percent to 25% of call for Mark Group's three brands, namely Boston Proper, Charles Keath and Mark, Fore & Strike, are from customers checking their order status. The system was developed by Boca Raton, FL-based voice commerce solution provider NetByTel.

Casual Male files for bankruptcy

Casual Male Corp has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May 2001, in a bid to reorganize its men's apparel business. In its bankruptcy filing, the company reported total assets of 4299 million and total liabilities of $244 million. Casual Male, formerly J Baker, sells merchandise through its Web site and catalog as well as retail shops that include 450 Casual Male Big and Tall stores and 135 Repp Ltd stores.

MSC Industrial launches Web site

MSC Industrial Direct Company Inc has launched MSCdirect.com. The distributor of maintenance, repair and operations suplies for industrial customers has introduced the site to providve its customers with full access to its catalog of over 450,000 SKUs each year. Orders placed through MSCdirect will move directly from the customer's desktop to the floor of the distribution center.
