Toledo builders separate from pack with innovative show homes
Article Abstract:
Two local builders are enjoying an average of 15 to 20 home starts a year since being commissioned to build show homes of big companies. Local home builder Tom Peternel was the one who built the PBS television station five years ago. From this contract, Peternel not only received money but also got free TV and radio advertising. Since then his name has become a by-word in home building in the area. Another local home builder, Bill Decker, built his own show house called the Ideal Energy Home. This show home served to promote Spring Brook, his new housing development.

Medinger Sims Construction Pres Larry Medinger does not only conduct business in home building but he has also diversified into remodeling and land development. His reason for diversification is business survival. Medinger says if business runs low in one or two of the three businesses, he can rely on the other businesses that is doing great. He says the three businesses of remodeling, home building and land development are interconnected and actually complement each other so that it sort of becomes a total business.
