USPS introduces PosteCS

The US Postal Service has introduced the Post Electronic Courier Service (PosteCS) in May 2000. The new service is a global electronic document delievery service that allows users to send documents securely through the Internet. PosteCS is being launched in cooperation with Canada Post Corp, the International Post Corp and La Poste of France. It was launched by Canada Post Corp in Apr 2000, and will be launched soon by La Poste.

UPS offers returns solution for e-tailers

Atlanta, GA-based United Parcel Service (UPS) has unveiled a service that is aimed at helping e-tailers manage their returns more efficiently. It enables consumers to print labels from their PCs. It also provides a list of color maps to drop-off locations of the UPS. It enables merchants to keep track of their returns inventory and examine returns data for customer behavior and logistics trends. The service has several options including UPS Ground, Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select.

PC Postage goes live

The US Postal Service has launched PC Postage, an online service that allows customers to buy and print stamps. The service, available nationwide, is targeted to home offices and small offices that spend less than $500 per month on stamps. E-Stamp Corp of San Mateo, CA, and Stamps.com of Santa Monica, CA, are two companies that were deemed fit to sell the stamps online, while two other firms - Pitney Bowes of Stamford, CT, and Neopost of Hayward, CA - are testing products that could become available by early 2000.
