Article Abstract:
California's demography will play an important role in the state's housing industry in the 1990s. Analysts predict that housing demand will be affected by the state's population increase and the influx of immigrants. The manufactured homes industry's affordable products and flexible distribution system are favorable for the creation of new markets. These, plus the greater interest of first-time buyers and the ability of manufactured homes to respond to changing lifestyles will assure the industry of a profitable future in California for the 1990s.

Western report
Article Abstract:
Housing demand in California for 1994 improved tremendously over the previous year, with most analysts forecasting continued growth until 1996. The state's manufactured housing industry should take advantage of the foreseen growth in the demand for homes sold as real property, new site-built homes and homes sold as personal property. However, the industry will have to reduce its sales in other states as it faces strong competition from these states' housing manufacturers.
