Xeikon hopes European soccer results ignite U.S. ticket effort
Article Abstract:
Xeikon America is hoping that it would have the same success with US events marketers as it had during the Euro 2000 soccer tournament, when it printed as many as 1.2 million on-demand tickets. The company developed a unique database system to handle the peculiar needs of Euro 2000. People who ordered the tickets were asked their home addresses, which were entered into database files according to their nationality. Each ticket also had a barcode with the purchaser's name ensuring the tickets would not be sold by scalpers to people of other nationalities.
