The family estate
Article Abstract:
Estate cars offer a high level of flexibility, and can be useful for transporting bulky items. They tend to perform less well than the best large family saloons, but may be more suitable for certain types of driver. Of six estate cars tested by Which? magazine, the best was the Ford Mondeo, which offers a large amount of room and handles well. It is also worth considering the Renault Laguna. The Toyota Carina E and Audi A4 are better than average in terms of reliability.

The new Ford in focus: With its futuristic shape and styling, the Ford Focus has impressed many people. Has it had the same effect on our hard-nosed testers?
Article Abstract:
The new Ford Focus is available as a three and five door hatchback, a saloon and an estate, with five engine choices and four trim levels. A middle of the range 1.8 LX hatchback was tested, with an optional Winter Pack, side airbags, front fog lights and rear head restraints. Drivers found the engine lively and responsive, and were impressed by the handling. However ride quality was disappointing. Most testers were impressed with the interior.
