Extension of stable continental lithosphere and the initiation of lithospheric scale faults
Article Abstract:
The physical conditions that control the style of continental extension are explored by investigating the the mechanisms that cause the lithospheric scale faults to initiate into the stable homogeneous continental lithosphere. The two causes identified to cause strain localization in mantle are boundinageing and strain weakening. The new model suggests that the boudins do not evolve during the continental lithosphere extension and that the shear zones will evolve only after the strain weakening.

Correlation between seismic anisotropy and major geological structures in SW Iberia: a case study on continental lithosphere deformation
Article Abstract:
A correlation in the lithospheric structure and seismic anistropy as viewed from geophysical data and tectonic history of the outcropping basement rocks in SW Iberia, reveals that the oblique plate convergence, orogenesis, and terrane accretion are documented for pre-Mesozoic times. The new model of polyorogenic lithosphere deformation accounts for the structural divergence and thermal effects manifestations in the crusts, by analysing the scales of subcrustal heteogeneity.

Intraplate deformation and basin formation during the Tertiary within the northern Iberian plate: origin and evolution of the Almazan Basin
Article Abstract:
The Tertiary Almazan Basin can be seen as part of a strongly deformed zone in the central region of Iberia. The Tertiary evolution shows a coeval deformation at the western sector of the Ebro Basin, constituting the Almazan Basin and the Rioja Trough.
