The all-or-none pattern in introduced Hawaiian passeriformes: the role of competition sustained
Article Abstract:
An investigation was conducted on the hypothesis that the all-or-none pattern of success exhibited by passeriforms introduced into Hawaiian islands does not involve the effects of competition. It was shown that the findings on which thehypothesis was based were erroneous due to biases in phylogeny, errors in the data matrix and differences in the number of islands for each introduction. It was shown that the all-or-none pattern of introduction success is consistent with the competition hypothesis.

Varying resource abundances and competitive dynamics
Article Abstract:
Interspecific competition are oftentimes nonlinear, which violates the Lotka-Volterra assumptions of linearity. These nonlinearities are observed in the case of two species, each of which has an exclusive resource, but overlap at one other resource over which they then compete. In one study, the abundance of one exclusive resource impacts on the survival of the other species. The experiment showed how the mechanisms of competition affect competitive outcomes.
