Strike-slip movements and thrusting along a transpressive fault zone: the North Giudicarie line
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the effect of inherited structures on the nucleation and strain partitioning along an important transpressive fault zone located in the central part of the Alpine chain, the North Giudicarie line. This zone offsets the dextral Insubric line with an apparent left-lateral displacement of roughly 70 km. The relative timing between dextral and sinistral transpressive episodes along the North Giudicarie line and the kinematics of the left-lateral transpressive movement s within the Giudicarie belt are also discussed.

Transition from basement-involved to thin-skinned thrusting in the Cordillera Oriental of southern Bolivia
Article Abstract:
The structure and kinematic evolution of the eastern Cordillera Oriental and Interandean Zone are analyzed. Their association to the Subandean Ranges based on three balanced cross sections in the Bolivian-Argentinian border region are investigated. Gravimetric data suggesting thin lower Paleozoic strata in the footwall of the Interandean thrust indicate that the Interandean thrust's main basement ramp follows an early Paleozoic synsedimentary normal fault.

Quaternary blind thrusting in the southwestern Sacramento Valley, California
Article Abstract:
Active blind thrust faults lie beneath the southwestern Sacramento Valley. Seismic and other data indicate that the growth and eastward movement of a triangle zone caused a mountain front flexure and the uplift of the eastern Coast Ranges. Underthrusting and tectonic wedging led to uplift and folding east of this front. The results suggest that a 700-km fold-thrust belt oriented along the western Great Valley exists.
