Intracrustal extension of an Archean orogen revealed using single-gain U-Pb zircon geochronology
Article Abstract:
Single-grain U-Pb zircon dating techniques were used to bracket the age of subhorizontal shear zones that formed during the orogen-parallel extension in the Wawa geiss domain. Specifically, these techniques were used to determine, in four outcrops, the ages of meter-scale igneous bodies that crystallized prior to and after the extension. Results showed that the time of extension was limited to the interval between 2660 and 2645 Ma.

Article Abstract:
The correlation of Late Proterozoic and Paleozoic rocks of the Chegitun River valley with similar age rocks in the Siberian/northern Alaska area of the Arctic, was investigated. This data was used to review the Paleozoic tectonic evolution of northeastern Russia and northern Alaska.
