Analysis and modeling of recent business failures in Greece
Article Abstract:
Greece experienced a number of business failures following the recession in the 1970s and its entry into the EEC in 1981. Problematic firms were subsidized by banks on government pressure, making the budget deficit balloon. Thus the need for business failure prediction became greater. The statistical techniques of logit, probit, regression and discriminant analysis are used in the models. These models and financial data will help economic systems in Greece and other countries detect potentially failing firms.
