Article Abstract:
Price increases scheduled to go into effect led to violent protests in Morocco. King Hassan cancelled the price rise, but economic problems are persistent and becoming more severe. Two droughts have caused a fall in food production. Morocco's debt has reached eleven billion dollars. The continuing war with the Polisario guerillas is costly. Unemployment is near thirty per cent.

Article Abstract:
Public opinion in Poland was strongly against three possible price increases proposed in November 1983. A fourth compromise proposal will go into effect January 30, 1984. It will compensate poor families and have a lower price increase on basic foods.
