Investment opportunities: the promised land?
Article Abstract:
Investment opportunities in Central Asia have not yet been found by most Asian companies, but opportunities are huge. The region has enormous gas reserves and more than 62 mil people who are eager for consumer goods. Kyrgystan and Uzbekistan declared independence in 1991, and by the end of that year the six republics were independent. Customs union agreements now exist among the CIS members. Treaties and the oil/gas situation are confusing, but potential is great and a pipeline to a Black Sea port is being built. No doubt business with the Far East will grow enormously.
