Bank efficiency in Croatia: a stochastic-frontier analysis

Article Abstract:

An analysis of banking efficiency in Croatia reveals that preexisting banks remain central t the country's banking system and that they have proven to be hardier than usual compared with new banks. The study also reveals that new banks are not as efficient as old banks and that they do not operate at an efficient scale with new private banks having enormous potential to free ride on the efforts of other banks.
