UK households spent an estimated 255 million pounds sterling on savoury biscuits (SB) in 1997, compared with 210 million pounds sterling in 1992. Growth in the mini pack sector for lunchboxes and increased home entertaining accounts for much of the rise. Sales of mini packs reached 98 million pounds sterling in 1997, and is predicted to reach 127 million pounds sterling by the year 2001. The SB market is predicted to rise to about 300 million pounds sterling by the year 2001, a rise of 17% on 1997.
