Competition in markets for credence goods
Article Abstract:
Credence goods are goods which are sold be people who decide what the needs of clients are, for example medical services. These markets should be analysed since they are often licensed by public authorities. Fraud may be present in these markets even though there is also competition. Experts who also sell in these markets are able to set prices, and can benefit from higher prices, and expected customer surplus is not maximised by equilibrium.
