Article Abstract:
The effect of informational frictions in the credit markets of the U.S. manufacturing fluctuations are determined and a strategy is proposed to identify the intermediation costs related to informational asymmetries between lenders and borrowers. The analysis suggests that these costs have been steadily falling over the post-war period.
