Development Gateway project
Article Abstract:
The Uzbekistan Development Gateway Portal began operations on August 21, 2001. The project is aimed at providing an Internet-based means of advancing e-commerce, e-culture and e-entertainment. Uzbekistan's portal is part of a larger effort backed by the World Bank Group, along with public- and private-sector entities, to promote sustainable development in underdeveloped countries by providing access to information, funding and commercial opportunities.

New Saudi privatization strategy liberalizes four major sectors
Article Abstract:
Saudi Arabia's Supreme Economic Council aims to privatize the following sectors: postal services, desalination, railway expansion projects and petroleum and energy support services. The government plans to sell its holdings in Saudi companies and to promote privatization on either a build-operate-transfer or build-operate-own basis.
