Does doing badly encourage management innovation?
Article Abstract:
An empirical analysis of production mangement during recessions indicates that firms may use more resources for innovation in productivity. Firms become more centralized during recessions, although decentralization is an appropriate activity for recovery. In other areas, first are found to improve productivty during price declines.
