Doing business with Aramco
Article Abstract:
Saudi Aramco will be purchasing 15 to 24 billion dollars worth of goods and services during its investment program over the next several years. Foreign companies wishing to make bids to Aramco must become prequalified and listed on Aramco's database according to product. The market for operations and maintenance is already saturated with qualified firms, but engineering and program management offer opportunities to foreign firms. Aramco favors Saudi vendors with a price margin of no more than 20 percent above foreign firms. All suppliers must meet strict quality standards, such as ISO 9000.

Saudi Aramco to spend up to $3.5 billion on projects to 2000
Article Abstract:
The Saudi Arabian Oil Co (Saudi Aramco) intends to spend about $3.5 billion by 2000 in developing Saudi Arabia's Shayba oil field and other projects. This massive development project presents foreign suppliers of oil-related goods and services with a prime opportunity for excellent profits. However, prospective suppliers must be prepared to meet Saudi Aramco's stringent quality standards and to endure a protracted prequalification process. Saudi Aramco prefers Saudi suppliers and vendors but will accept foreign partners when no Saudi supplier is available.
