How important is ownership in a market with level playing field? The Indian banking sector revisited
Article Abstract:
The banking sector reforms and deregulation in India were initiated in 1992, encouraging entry and establishing a level playing field for all banks. Data for the financial years 1995-1996 through 200-2001 indicate that, by 1999-2000, ownership was no longer a significant determinant of performance.

Article Abstract:
The powers exercised by the grassroots local party committees of the Chinese Communist Party in the decision making of ChinaEs listed firms are compared with the powers exercised by the largest shareholders of those companies. The two are found to be functioning in tandem.

Seize the state, seize the day: state capture and influence in transition economies
Article Abstract:
An examination of the state capture and influence in transition economies is done through the data from the 1999 Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey. It is found that the capture economies have emerged with the transition economies.
