Indian software: exports and experts
Article Abstract:
India's software exports are rapidly rising and reached about $1.1 bil in 1997 vs $192 mil in 1991, with predictions for 2000 at $4 bil. Talents of its many English-speaking programmers and software engineers are much in demand all over the world, but in India they come at relatively low prices. Now India has its own software industry growing rapidly with about 160,000 people employed in Indian companies and foreign companies on Indian soil.

Article Abstract:
Software products have been developed to increase the efficiency of plant management. Products analyze lubrication processes for machines, create communication networks among different industrial processes, and help reduce costs. Proper plant maintenance improves profits. Software discussed includes Electronic Log Book and Miquest.

Software Hardship at Mitel
Article Abstract:
Canada's Mitel, a telecommunications company, is suffering losses. The major obstacle to growth has been a delay in marketing the newest technological switch for telephone systems, the sx2000. The delay is due to difficulties in the computer software.
