The Role of Incentives For Opening Monopoly Markets: Comparing GTE and BOC Cooperation With Local Entrants
Article Abstract:
Section 271 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 requires a Bell operating company to open its local markets in the state to competition before applying for authority to offer long-distance services. This paper suggests that it can not establish Section 271 to be socially beneficial and more research into the subject is necessary.

Informative advertising and optimal targeting in a monopoly
Article Abstract:
A monopoly may save money by using targeted advertising to reduce the amount of advertising and raise the price of goods. However; the loss of consumer surplus and social welfare may override the utility of target marketing.
