Local tax system, intergovernmental transfers and China's local fiscal disparities
Article Abstract:
The factors affecting the economic status of counties in China are examined from data of all county-level jurisdictions during 1994 to 2000. The effects of local taxes and the inter-state tax sharing system on the fiscal disparities of the counties are also discussed.

Foreign direct investment and vertical integration of production by Japanese multinational in Thailand

An analysis of the vertical specialization of foreign direct investments by the Japanese multinational in the production activity of Thailand from 1985 through 1995 is presented. The effects of skills and market size on the FDI are also analyzed.
