Not So Fast, Mondale
Article Abstract:
Gary Hart received forty per cent of the vote in the New Hampshire Democratic primary, while front runner Walter Mondale received only twenty-nine per cent. Mondale believes New Hampshire Democrats enjoy the spotlight of the first primary and doing the unexpected. John Glenn placed a distant third. Hart is emphasizing the 'newness' of his message. His campaign organization needs financing. Jesse Jackson, George McGovern, Ernest Hollings and Robin Askew are still in the running, as well. Alan Cranston is dropping out. A chart gives the standings of candidates Mondale, Hart and Glenn on various economic, foreign policy and social policy issues.
