This article discusses the negative impact of capital flight from Russia on the country's production, social and intellectual potential. The author examines the political-economic development of international financial capital, problems involved with its changing structure in the face of increasing globalization, and the impact of the Washington consensus and the International Monetary Fund's policies on the Russian economy.

The acquisition of real property abroad as a direction of capital export

This article evaluates foreign real property as a target of direct capital investment, focusing on housing abroad. Issues include a brief history of housing abroad, capital flight from Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union and motivations for Russian's who had acquired wealth under generally dubious means for buying property abroad.

The authors impliment an interdisciplinary approach using political, economic, legal and statisitical theories to examine the amount of capital export from Russia since 1992. Issues include an estimate of the legal, illegal and capital transfer of assets, and definitions of capital drain and capital export.
