Real business cycle: a critical review
Article Abstract:
An overview of the agenda behind real business cycle research that addresses the primary empirical and theoretical issues involved is presented. The results indicate that, despite the popularity of real business cycle research, the technique has not been convincing enough in producing a working theory of the business cycle. This conclusion is achieved despite the obvious popularity of the methodological approach as evidenced by the amount of literature published.

Moving average detrending and the analysis of business cycles
Article Abstract:
The use of moving average detrending in the context of integrated processes is investigated. Results show that such detrending can eliminate as much as two unit roots from processes with deterministic and/or stochastic nonstationarity. It is also revealed that moving average detrending can radically transform the medium of long-term properties of the disturbance process.
