Testing the Olson hypothesis within the Australian context
Article Abstract:
Research involving both regression and cointegration analyses has confirmed the validity of the Olson trade hypothesis for Australia. The hypothesis describes a negative relationship between the proportion of exports to import protection. Australia's decreasing levels of import protection have led to an increase in exports, which in turn has improved the nation's manufacturers' export orientation.
