Thai Ministry of Finance press release on the implementation of ASEAN Free Trade Area scheme
Article Abstract:
Close to 90% of tradeable items identified by the Thai Customs Department will be included in the Common Effective Preferential Tariff scheme agreed upon by the Assn of South East Asian Nations. Thailand also intends to participate in all 15 product categories under the fast track program with about 1,936 items covered. Under the normal track program, 2,764 Thai products will be up for tariff reduction. On the exclusion list are 118 items which are being temporarily protected from foreign competition. These include agricultural goods, drinks and liquor, tobacco and electrical appliances.

18 top products had been identified by Indonesia to enter the AFTA era
Article Abstract:
Indonesia has included 18 top export industrial products in the Common Effective Preferential Tariff scheme of the Assn of South East Nations (ASEAN). These include textile, wooden, leather and steel products. These product groups were chosen according to the broad spectrum policy for industrial development adopted by the Indonesian government. The government also expressed confidence that Indonesian products will become more competitive as the market opens itself to competition with products from other ASEAN countries.

Press statement by Brunei on the ASEAN Free Trade Area
Article Abstract:
Brunei has decided to participate in all 15 product groups under the Fast Track of the Common Effective Preferential Tariff scheme agreed upon by the heads of government of member countries in the Assn of South East Asian Nations. Under the Normal Track, Brunei announced reservations in petroleum products, cosmetic products and motor vehicles and accessories. The government of Brunei also declared a continuing review of its tariff reduction program so that more products can be added to the list in the future.
