The Battle over Defense
Article Abstract:
Leaders of Congress are attempting to draft bills quickly which will reduce federal spending and increase revenues. There appear to be areas of agreement in the Congressional bills and the administration's budget proposal. Defense spending remains a contentious point between the administration and Congress. The budget deficit must be cust by at least $50 billion this year to ward off climbing interest rates.

Will Russia Vote for Reagan?
Article Abstract:
Relations between the United States and Russia are becomong less strained. The Soviets would prefer that President Reagan were not re-elected. Since it appears he may be, it would be to their interest to begin negotiating before the election rather than after.
