The effect of European Union expansion on the economy of Belarus - competitiveness and globalization constraints

Article Abstract:

The implications of the expansion of European Union in May 2004, whereby Poland, Latvia and Lithuania have become its members, on the economy, competitiveness and globalization of Belarus, are examined. Belarus shares a very large border with these new member countries of European Union. Belarus is one of the countries that are formed from the disintegration of erstwhile Soviet Union. The country's economy is changing from socialist economy to capitalist economy.
