The effects of government ownership on bank lending
Article Abstract:
The effects of government ownership on bank lending behavior is studied where in it is observed that the rate of interest charged by the state-owned banks is less in comparison with the privately owned banks. The electoral results play a major part in the lending behavior of the state-owned banks, which prefer to give loans to large firms and firms that are situated in depressed areas.
