Article Abstract:
It is wrongly argued that the Danish windmill industry prospered only due to subsidies even though it may be one of the reasons, it is definitely not the main reason and there are many other causes for its remarkable progress. The weather conditions is one reason for the phenomenal growth but benefits that have accrued after windmill plants were installed are tremendous and this cannot be quantified.

Article Abstract:
A strong learning-by-doing productivity growth in the Danish windmill industry is demonstrated along with the evaluation of its costs and benefits. The welfare effects of the Danish policy measures for the windmill industry is discussed in order to conclude whether the intervention passes both the Mill's and Bastable's tests.

The necessity of establishing the Danish windmill industry, which has shown remarkable growth since the 1980s, is studied and analyzed. It is found that the windmill industry hugely benefited due to subsidies of approximately 20 billion DKK, which were offered to the industry.
