The impact of proxy contests on managerial turnover: a test of the job security hypothesis
Article Abstract:
The impact of proxy fights on the job security of business executives is examined. The study tests the hypothesis that top management turnover rates are higher in companies that experienced proxy contests than in firms that did not. The data sample used consists of 128 proxy fights for board membership in 285 reelections in Taiwan. Results indicate a close relationship between incidence of proxy contests and senior executive turnover.
