The muddles over outsourcing
Article Abstract:
A discussion on the existing estimates of the extent of outsourcing is presented based on its definition in the World Trade Organization in its General Agreement on Trade in Services that properly defines as the offshore trade in arm's-length services. The effects of outsourcing are illustrated by presenting some models that are used to consider how trade in offshore purchase of such arm's-length service might affect national output, wages and distribution income.
