Tunisia steps up efforts to attract foreign investment
Article Abstract:
Tunisia is making headway in its quest for foreign investment by improving its appeal as a base for exporting to Europe and diversifying its economy. Foreign investment is expected to be $3.7 billion in 1992, up from a low of $2.2 billion during 1987, 1988 and 1989. Companies which produce exclusively for export receive significant tax benefits through Tunisia's liberalization of imports and other tax benefits. Tunisia's policies on foreign investment in tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, services, petroleum exploration and trade issues are presented.
