4 billion years in the making, so give it some respect
Article Abstract:
The professor of biology and chair of environmental studies at Grinnell College, Iowa, describes the environmental importance of Amazonia and argues that if only a small part of Amazonia is to be saved from destruction in the not too distant future, than the same sort of measures that currently apply to Antarctica need to be put in place. It is contended that the nine nations that share Amazonia must realise that they are the guardians of a region of global importance and that the developed nations around the world who hold the debts of these countries must find the political will to help them preserve their national heritage.
