Activists decry AUT's proposal to stand down equality body for a year
Article Abstract:
The Association of University Teachers (AUT) has been accused of reusing to put the equal opprtunities fight at the heart of the planned academics' super-union after vetoeing plans to set up an equality committee. A paper prepared by Natfhe reports that AUT argued that equality should not be a 'core business' of the proposed University and College Union during the transitional year.

The group, comprising a self-selecting group of eight universities. aims to bolster the reputation of more vocationally oriented and scientific courses.
