Bad news from cyberspace?

Article Abstract:

Research, in the US, on Internet usage over a two year period was defective because the 256 people who were chosen for the study were not picked at random. All of the subjects were given a computer and an Internet account. None of them had a computer. Yet most Americans have access to a computer and 70 million use the Internet. The control group backed out of the research at its initial stages. The research was carried out by Carnegie Mellon University for several major computer firms. It found use of the Internet resulted in raised levels of depression and isolation.
