Brilliance and the barrier to a great career
Article Abstract:
Researchers seeking a career in academia are not well provided for by university careers services but those employed on fixed-term research contracts are likely to benefit from the formation of the Concordat Implementation Group in Jul. 1997. The Concordat agreement, signed by the Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals and the major research funding bodies in 1996, recognises the problems associated with short-term contracts. The aim of the Concordat Implementation Group is to ensure good conditions and prospects for researchers employed on fixed-term contracts.
