Calls to counter UK drain on Africa
Article Abstract:
Universities in the UK are recruiting academic talent from developing countries at such a rate that the imposition of recruitment restrictions and the payment of compensation packages to counter the damage caused should be considered, according to "The Brain Drain - Academic and Skilled Migration to the UK and its Impacts on Africa" report commissioned by academic trade unions. The report argues that the brain drain of the best academics from Africa is having a devastating effect, causing skill shortages and the failure of education systems.
