Article Abstract:
Universities in the United Kingdom need to realise that there are strings attached to the Government's promised increases in funding for scientific research. The Government has stated that it wants the universities to close the existing gap between themselves and universities in the US. The issue that the universities need to be concerned about is how it is decided whether or not these gaps are being closed.

A brave step to ensure the future of innovation
Article Abstract:
An analysis of plans by Cambridge University to reform its intellectual property policy. It is contended that the arguments against Cambridge's proposals are insulting and arrogant and that they will ensure that academics, and not the university, will have the ultimate authority about whether they pursue research instead of profit.
