American policy in the 20th century has been depicted by various changes and transformations. The country adopted a multilateral alliance system after World War II. Moreover, the country adopted a constitutional partnership and federal approach to internationalist ideas and principles.

American foreign policy: the future of a contradiction
Article Abstract:
US foreign policy is characterized by a willingness to maintain international peacekeeping duties and by a reluctance to shoulder the resulting expenses. This contradiction has existed since World War I and is expected to continue in the future.
