Commission impossible
Article Abstract:
The UK 1998 Royal Commission was set up by Prime Minister Tony Blair to find the best electoral system rather than offer a number of systems. The Commission was led by Lord Roy Jenkins. It published its report in Oct 1998. The system they recommended includes semi-proportional top-up for smaller regions and additional voting in single member constituencies. It will allow voters more choice over political parties. The Commission found it was impossible to recommend one faultless system. They spent several months researching alternative electoral systems and questioning academics.

...feel lack of work experience at university has kept me from getting a job
Article Abstract:
An unemployed university graduate details the difficulties involved in getting a job, even with a good degree. It is noted that many graduates face the Catch-22 situation of being rejected for jobs because they do not have enough experience and being unable to get experience because nobody will employ them. It is suggested that one option could be for more degree courses to have a year on work placement, thereby providing some of the experience employers want from new graduates.
