How Jericho tumbled
Article Abstract:
Stanford University geophysics researcher Dr Amos Nur told the Geological Society conference on Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Archaeology on Apr. 28, 1997, that earthquakes may have been responsible for the rise and fall of many ancient societies. Nur pointed out that there is evidence to show that the walls of Jericho, which stands on a fault line, were destroyed by an earthquake. Meanwhile scientists at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, have discovered a report suggesting that the Gleichberg volcano in the former East Germany erupted in 1783.
