Conjurers of conjecture
Article Abstract:
Science is too often depicted by popularisers in a way that mystifies the work of scientists. Quantum physics is being used to back mystical theories. There is a need to distinguish between sensationalism and new ideas which are revolutionary in their approach. Mystifying science may enhance its popular appeal, so increase the sales of works written about it, but this does not help promote public understanding of science. Sociey has infected scientific products with New Age views.
