Painful consequences of sanctioning torture
Article Abstract:
An analysis of survey of psychologists and scientists into the validity of using torture as a way of getting information. The majority of those surveyed rejected torture on both practical and ethical grounds, arguing that it is abhorrent in a modern, civilised society and pointing out that it is counterproductive as those being tortured will say whatever they believe their torturers want to hear in order to get the experience to stop.
